A person who changes the spare part

In the world of artisanal gelato, time is your most precious asset. When a machine breaks down, the risk isn’t just losing the day’s production; it is damaging expensive components by attempting repairs with inadequate parts.

But how do you choose the right spare part among thousands of codes and options? Here are the 4 fundamental steps to ensure you get it right.

  1. Identifying the Serial Number

Before searching for a part, you must precisely identify your machine's "identity card".

Every model undergoes technical updates over the years; consequently, a 2015 model might be fitted with different components than the same model manufactured in 2022.

Therefore, simply knowing you own a batch freezer isn't enough. You need to know exactly which series you are working with. The first thing to do is locate the metal data plate (usually on the back or side) of the machine and find its Serial Number.

Without the serial number, you risk ordering a component that looks correct aesthetically but is incompatible with the specific electronics or mechanics of your version.

  1. Consulting the Exploded View Diagram

Once you have the serial number, you need to consult the manufacturer's technical documentation, known as the Exploded View (or Technical Drawing). This is a diagram showing the machine "dismantled" down to every single screw.

Within this Exploded View, you should look for the diagram of the section you are interested in (e.g., the pressurisation pump or the front door) and find the Part Number of the component you need to replace.

This code allows you to move from a vague description ("the small black gasket") to a precise and unequivocal order.

  1.  Choosing the Type of Spare Part

Now that you have identified the code, it’s time to choose the component itself. In this case, there is only one correct answer: opt for an original manufacturer part.

A non-original component doesn't just risk altering the machine's performance; it can also cause serious structural damage to other components, compromising the reliability of the entire system when you need it most.

  1.  Purchasing a Maintenance Kit

The final step isn't just about buying the broken part, but preventing the next breakdown.

Purchasing a Maintenance Kit is a strategic and wise choice because it guarantees the total restoration of the system, not just the single broken part.

Since the mechanical components of professional machines, such as those by Carpigiani, work in synergy, the wear of one element almost always compromises the integrity of adjacent ones (such as seals and O-rings).

The kit, therefore, eliminates the long-term risk of finding yourself with a non-functional machine, saving you money on maintenance and labour costs in the long run.

Furthermore, it ensures the machine maintains its hygiene certifications and original factory performance, protecting both your investment and the quality of your gelato.
